Hosted by AGE-WELL, AgeTech Innovation Week was the first event of its kind – and an unprecedented opportunity to connect people who share an interest in technology and aging.

The unique virtual event, held on October 4-8, 2021, brought together more than 1,200 attendees and over 60 speakers from around the world. The week featured curated panel sessions, workshops and catalytic conversations designed to connect people and create change.

Attendees dove into thought-provoking conversations about combating ageism, transforming long-term care, COVID-19 and AgeTech, creating accessible technologies and much more. Panelists shared insights and experiences in an engaging and inspiring way.

Registrants had the opportunity to participate in networking sessions to meet fellow AgeTech enthusiasts and make new contacts and potential collaborators. In addition, there were exclusive workshops that offered educational and hands-on experiences.

Things got competitive on Day 4, which featured the AGE-WELL National Impact Challenge. Six Canadian startups were challenged to explain how their technology-based solution can positively impact older Canadians and/or caregivers. The winner was Hyivy Health, which has developed a pelvic health therapy device. Read more.

The conversations held during AgeTech Innovation Week don’t end here. AGE-WELL’s goal is to continue these conversations and make a meaningful difference in the lives of older Canadians and their caregivers. For AGE-WELL, it’s all about impact.

“It’s a really important moment for the AgeTech sector – a sector that has a great opportunity to not only change the future of aging, but to create jobs and generate wealth,” said AGE-WELL’s scientific director and CEO Dr. Alex Mihailidis during the week’s closing remarks. “That’s why we created this event ‒ to bring all of us together to share ideas, create new connections and drive the global AgeTech sector forward.”
